We&#8217;ve got some top tips below to help you create the perfect cover letter.<\/p>\n<h2>Research the company &amp; the job role<\/h2>\n<p>Before you put pen to paper, you must first take the time to do some research \u2014 both into the company where the vacancy has arisen, and also the job role itself. You need to find out what the business does, who it\u2019s target audience is, and who its competitors are. Regarding the job you are applying for, you need to find out what the role involves and what skills you need to perform it.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have gathered all of this information together, you can use your cover letter to explain what you can bring to the company and the job role. Don\u2019t feel embarrassed if it is obvious that you have done your research \u2014 they will be impressed that you bothered to do it.<\/p>\n<h2>How to address a cover letter<\/h2>\n<p>Your cover letter should be addressed to the person in charge of recruitment at the company. If their name isn\u2019t offered in the job advert, it is worth trying to find it out \u2014 either through the internet or by giving the company a call. Using the person\u2019s name on the cover letter shows initiative, determination and attention to detail \u2014 all desirable skills for any job. If you write too much, your application may be overlooked.<\/li>\n<li>Keep it simple \u2014 write it by hand if you have clear handwriting and want to stand out from the crowd or use a clear font if typing it. Don\u2019t use photos, pictures, or any other embellishments!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to structure a cover letter<\/h2>\n<p>Again, there are no set rules for the structure of your cover letter but here are some top tips for laying it out in a way that means you won\u2019t miss out anything important.<\/p>\n<p>The general layout should be:<\/p>\n<h3>Introduction<\/h3>\n<p>This section should cover why you are getting in touch. In a concise manner, outline which job you are applying for and where you saw it advertised.<\/p>\n<h3>Why you are suitable for the job<\/h3>\n<p>Use the next paragraph to explain why you are the ideal candidate for the job. Briefly outline the professional and educational experience you have which is relevant to the role, matching it to the essential skills listed in the job advert.<\/p>\n<h3>Why you\u2019d be an asset to the company<\/h3>\n<p>Use this paragraph to tell them why you\u2019d be an asset to the company, using examples from your current or past employment. For example, what did you achieve for your past employer? Did you boost sales? Build the brand via social media?
