Even the smallest little surprise can be fascinating to the recipient. With that in mind, I\u2019ve created a list below of 50 items you could pop in your envelope with a letter to your penfriend. I\u2019ve tried to keep the items fairly slim, so you don\u2019t end up paying too much on postage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pressed leaves or flowers \u2013 pretty &amp; also interesting to people from other countries<\/li>\n<li>A bookmark \u2013 you could make one or buy one themed around something your pen pal has an interest in<\/li>\n<li>Tea bags<\/li>\n<li>Hot chocolate sachets<\/li>\n<li>Sweets<\/li>\n<li>A couple of sticks of chewing gum<\/li>\n<li>Something you have cross stitched<\/li>\n<li>A postcard of your local area or somewhere you have visited<\/li>\n<li>A leaflet from a local attraction<\/li>\n<li>A photograph \u2013 this could be of you, your area, your friends, or whatever you would like to share with your pen pal<\/li>\n<li>A note card \u2013 either blank with the envelope, for them to use, or written in by you<\/li>\n<li>A crossword or Sudoku puzzle<\/li>\n<li>A newspaper clipping about something interesting, or perhaps relevant to a discussion you and your friend been having<\/li>\n<li>Flattened origami<\/li>\n<li>A friendship bracelet &#8211; I encourage this at any age!<\/li>\n<li>A keyring<\/li>\n<li>A ticket from somewhere you\u2019ve recently visited, or your travel ticket<\/li>\n<li>A (non-metal) nail file \u2013 they now sell these with all manner of patterns on them<\/li>\n<li>Pretty plasters (band aids)<\/li>\n<li>A packet of flower seeds to plant (inland only)<\/li>\n<li>A packet of pretty tissues<\/li>\n<li>Your favourite recipe<\/li>\n<li>A pack of stickers<\/li>\n<li>A slim notepad<\/li>\n<li>A fun pair of socks<\/li>\n<li>Your favourite chocolate bar<\/li>\n<li>Washi tape<\/li>\n<li>A little quiz on a separate piece of paper \u2013 ask questions such as \u2018what 3 items would you save in a fire, after your family?\u2019 or \u2018tell me about your best ever Birthday\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Write a little list to pop in with your letter, such as \u2018My top 10 books\u2019, \u2018My 5 favourite films\u2019, or \u2018What I\u2019ve done today\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>A hairband, hair bobble or hair clips<\/li>\n<li>A luggage tag<\/li>\n<li>Sticky notes<\/li>\n<li>A pen or pencil<\/li>\n<li>An inspirational quote<\/li>\n<li>Free cosmetic samples<\/li>\n<li>Drinks coasters, or free beer mats from your local pub<\/li>\n<li>An amusing comic strip<\/li>\n<li>Coins (of a low value), unless your pen pal is from the same country or uses the same currency (such as the Euro)<\/li>\n<li>A drawing or doodle<\/li>\n<li>Fun paperclips<\/li>\n<li>An air freshener<\/li>\n<li>A CD of your favourite music<\/li>\n<li>Postage stamps, if they collect them<\/li>\n<li>A fridge magnet<\/li>\n<li>Stationery for them to use<\/li>\n<li>Write the first line of a story and fold the piece of paper, then send it to your pen pal and ask them to not read what you have written but add the next line, fold it, and send it back to you<\/li>\n<li>Start a drawing off, then ask your penfriend to add to the drawing and send it back to you<\/li>\n<li>A map or travel guide for your city<\/li>\n<li>Paper confetti<\/li>\n<li>A handmade necklace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do you have any more ideas to add?
